As November comes to a close, so does one of Claritas’s most cherished traditions – supporting our very own Development Support Engineer, Harry, in his annual Movember journey! Year after year, Harry has taken up the challenge, growing his Movember moustache to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, and this year is no different. But his reason for growing that ‘stache goes much deeper than facial hair.

A Tribute to a Great Grandad and a Mission for Men’s Health

Harry’s commitment to Movember is personal. He’s doing it in honour of his late Great Grandad, Henry, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer. While Henry’s life was blessed with longevity, passing away before the disease could progress, not everyone is so lucky. Prostate cancer remains the second most common cancer in men worldwide, claiming too many lives each year. It’s this harsh reality that drives Harry’s annual Movember campaign – to ensure other families can avoid the same heartbreak and loss.

Harry shares, “Movember has given me a way to remember my Great Grandad Henry while also supporting a cause that’s working to make real change. It’s not just about growing a moustache; it’s about helping prevent men from dying too young.”

Why Movember Matters: Raising Awareness and Saving Lives

The Movember Foundation, which began in 2003, has grown into a global movement dedicated to tackling some of the biggest health issues faced by men, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. The organisation has set an ambitious goal: to halve the number of deaths from prostate cancer by 2030. Through education, funding for breakthrough research, and promoting early detection, Movember is paving the way to a healthier future for men worldwide.

Harry is proud to support these efforts, knowing that each pound raised could help fund life-saving programmes. He knows how critical it is to spread awareness, especially as research shows that early detection can significantly improve outcomes for men with prostate cancer.

The Tash is Coming Along! Help Harry Reach His Goal

Harry Movember 2024 - week 3

This Movember, Harry is not only hoping to make an impact but also aiming to reach a personal fundraising goal of £800. We have to report as of 27th November he has smashed this target having currently raised £949 and there’s still 3 days to go – so the tattoo appointment is booked as a reward for hitting his goal!

Growing a moustache for Movember is no easy feat, and Harry is quick to laugh about his current “whiskers.”

Each donation, no matter the size, makes a difference and helps Harry get one step closer to his target. All proceeds go straight to the Movember Foundation, funding vital research and support for men’s health.

How to Support Harry

If you’d like to support Harry’s Movember mission, you can donate directly through his Movember page: movember.com/m/harryeastell?mc=1.

We have to say we are so proud of Harry and he looks good with more facial hair as he works to create a future where men’s health is prioritised, and fewer families are impacted by prostate cancer. Your support doesn’t just help Harry reach his goal – it supports a global mission to stop men from dying too young.

Let’s make this Movember a memorable one! 💙
