In 2023, we aimed to partner with a charity for 2 years, aligning with our values of “doing something good and giving back to our local community”. We chose to support Martin House, a charity providing vital end-of-life care for children which is based in Boston Spa, with it being a stone throws away from our Wetherby head office.

Having been slightly daunted by this challenge last year, the annual Accumulator Challenge by Martin House requires the team to turn £30 into £3,000 in 30 days. So feeling brave, we are planning a number of events and activities throughout March.

The planned fundraising will include a Cyber Escape Room on 20^th March 23 from 6pm-8pm with cyber experts from Gentium UK, “Sausage Roll Monday”, gaming competition and quizzes and cake experiences. The funds raised really can make a tangible impact:

• £5 could cover a late-night phone call with a Care Team Specialist.
• £10 could purchase a box of PPE gloves.
• £20 could buy 5 cannulas for critical pain relief and symptom control.

How it works is we enter a team for the Accumulator Challenge and then Martin House Hospice provide the team with £30 seed funding. Each team will have 30 days to grow this £30 into as much profit as we can through our fundraising efforts.

So far to date we have raised a total of £5907, an astonishing amount – which we are very proud of! We are always blown away by the kindness and huge generosity of the whole Claritas team and all those who have supported and donated to this very important and worthwhile cause. This amount could cover the cost of a specialist bed and mattress for the hospice, enhancing the quality of life for children with complex health needs.

Martin House expressed gratitude for Claritas’s involvement, emphasising the positive impact on their Community Team and anticipating a fruitful partnership in 2024.
