This is our first year choosing and supporting a nominated charity as a company, and we are so proud that we chose local charity Martin House Children’s Hospice. Martin House provide family-led hospice care for children and young people with life limiting illnesses. It is a place where children, young people and their families can go to stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help.
We set ourselves an ambitious target to raise £10k over two years, looking to take part in many events and fundraising activities to hopefully achieve this goal. Our first year of fundraising has been jam packed! Starting the year off with our Marketing & Social Media Exec Kat & her partner Greg taking to the dancefloor for the glitzy Strictly Get Dancing event held at Headingly Stadium. They did an amazing job learning and performing 3 routines and ended up coming out as semi-finalists! Raising a fantastic total of £750.
In June some of the team grabbed their walking boots and backpacks for a trek over the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. Hiking over 24 miles in the blistering heat, the Claritas Climbers were faced with a huge challenge, but they powered through and completed it! Raising an incredible £1780. June also saw the Claritas Castaways make a splash at Roundhay Park for the much-loved annual Dragon Boat Race. The fellas took on a total of 3 races as well as a tug of war competition, its fair to say their arms took a battering! The Castaways missed out on the Dragon Boat Race final but they were crowned Tug of War champions! They did a fantastic job and did Claritas proud! Raising a total of £1146.
Alongside Martin House events, we also held our own fundraising activities to help raise more money and to get us closer to our £5000 target for the year. Throughout the year we have put on quiz nights, raffles and cake days to make sure we could raise as much as possible for a charity that provides so much to those who need it most. We also understand doing our bit for charity isn’t just all about raising money, volunteering and offering our time to help out is also incredibly important. Some of the team helped out at Martin House’s family-friendly event Glow Together. Glow Together is a chance to have fun and make special memories, donning your glow sticks and face paint, children and their families take a fully accessible walk through Boston Spa village with a hunt for glow in the dark displays. These displays include specially decorated neon posters created by children and their families at the hospice. A truly humbling and rewarding experience, just a small way of us playing our part in making a difference to peoples’ lives.
So after all this activity we have raised a total of £4827, an astonishing amount! We are always blown away by the kindness and huge generosity of the whole Claritas team and all those who have supported and donated to this very important and worthwhile cause. To finish off an amazing first year supporting Martin House, we handed out Martin House Christmas cards and instead of gifting our clients with hampers, Claritas donated £1000 on behalf of all of our clients. This now brings our total raised to £5827, surpassing our £5000 target and putting us in great stead for next year’s fundraising!
What a fantastic 2023, the Claritas team has been non-stop in its fundraising efforts and this has been reflected in raising over our challenging yearly £5000 target! The entire team at Claritas has got stuck in and done their bit! To put what we have achieved this year into perspective, this means Martin House can provide one of their Speciality Doctors for one month, enabling families to receive advice, care and guidance from a doctor in Paediatric Palliative Medicine. This support is available 24/7 and negates the need for a GP appointment or hospital admission, alleviating current pressure on our NHS. It can also fund one of their Parent Support Groups, giving mums and dads the chance to talk to others and know they are not alone. It will provide video consultations for five families with a child requiring urgent symptom control. This support in-house negates the need for a GP appointment or hospital admission, again alleviating current pressure on our NHS. We are so proud of the part we have played in aiding this remarkable charity and helping them to continue to provide their vital care and support. All we have achieved this year could never have been accomplished without the incredible support and generous donations from family, friends, clients and suppliers, thank you to you all! No pressure… but we have a lot to live up to next year with our fundraising efforts! Bring on 2024, we cannot wait to get started! Let’s hope we can go above and beyond and raise even more!
